Then they return to the dining room, as the waltzing couples from the opening scene are superimposed over Uncle Charles. Someone else was probably happy with this ring. I’ll have it taken off.Ĭharlie: No, no, I like it this way. The jeweler rooked me.Ĭharlie: Oh it doesn’t matter, really it doesn’t. ‘TS from BM’ – those must be someone’s initials. Uncle Charles: (denying the truth) I haven’t, but I will if you like it.Ĭharlie: Yes you have, Uncle Charlie, it’s very faint. Good emeralds are the most beautiful things in the world.Ĭharlie: You’ve had something engraved on it that’s different. No matter what you gave me, it would be the same. Uncle Charles: You didn’t even look at it.Ĭharlie: I don’t have to look at it. Charlie graciously accepts the gift as Uncle Charles put the ring on her finger in a wedding like scene. The gift given to Charlie is an emerald ring that has the engraving ‘TS from BM’ on the inside. During the scene when Uncle Charles gives Charlie her gift, the waltz theme makes another appearance.
